Hollister
United 1, Palo Alto Eagles 0
Hollister United had its most exciting game yet! The girls were fired
up for their late Sunday afternoon game. Hollister was able to pull out
their first win 1-0 over the Palo Alto Eagles.
The girls
worked together like a well-oiled machine to dominate and control the
Eagles. They played so well that they limited most of the play to the
Eagles’s side of field. Each girl gave their very best and each one of
them should savor this first win, they deserve it.
With
Hollister United in control of the game, both goal keepers, Kylie Garcia
and Alexandria Reckas saw little action, but when they did, they held
off the Eagles for shut outs in both halves.
The first
half was scoreless, but it wasn’t for a lack of trying. Deanna
Rodrigues, Alexandra Osborn, Kylie Garcia, Hannah Press and Kristen
Callanta all made shots on the Eagles’s goal. Patty Laguna, Morgan
Cramer, and Brianna Romero also played very well and contributed to the
game, making great stops and helping get the ball downfield.
The
defense, Chase Miguel, Deanna Rodrigues, and Alexandria Smallwood all
made fantastic stops and were excellent in keeping the ball out of
Hollister United’s territory.
During
the halftime pep talk, Coaches Ted and Dave were able to give the team
the extra edge they needed. A few minutes into the second half
Alexandria Reckas fired a shot for the game’s only score. Hannah Press
also made an excellent near scoring shot in the second half.
It is
still early in the season, and the team is playing strong. We look
forward to the rest of the season, I am sure this won’t be the last time
the United finds the win column.
Each one
of the girls deserves a hardy pat on the back, keep up the awesome game
play!
Next
Saturday we meet the Roadrunners 95.
