Hollister United traveled to Mountain View as a team to participate in MVLA U10 Girls 2005 Jamboree last Saturday.  United faced two teams the SAYSO White and the Stanford Typhoons.  The girls were a bit rusty playing their first game as a team for this fall season.  The game against the SAYSO White promptly started at 11am and was played with two 22 minute halves.  The girls played some good soccer, but they would lose 3-2.  The girls were hanging tough as Brianna and Hannah were able to make the two scores for United.  I was able to tell in the game play that there was more room for the United team to turn it up.  Both Kylie and Desiree had an outstanding game as goalkeepers.

After a long break United was able to take the field against the Stanford Typhoons for a 4pm game.  The rust was definitely off by the time the girls played their second game.  Everyone played an outstanding game and United’s own Deanna came up with a big score in the first half.  United was able to hold this lead throughout the first half.  On a lucky goal by the Typhoon early in the second half they were able to change the momentum of the game to their favor.  Hollister gave their all, but just could not hold the Typhoon’s off.  The final for the game was 3-1.

I was still very pleased on what I saw during this Jamboree.  The girls and coaches I’m sure will be making adjustments over then next few weeks to be a fine tuned machine ready for the Mission Peak Jamboree to be held in Fremont on 8/27-8/28.
